King Street Cottage is a restored Freedman's cottage, and is listed in the Beaufort historic registry. The owners have taken care to retain much of the original charm and character of the original structure, while updating it with comfortable and stylish amenities. The main living area is welcoming and inviting, featuring original heart pine tongue-in-groove hardwood flooring and shiplap wall decor. Built in bookcases are filled with a library of books pertaining to the area, from Pat Conroy's novels, to local history, to picturesque coffee table books with low country scenery. A comfortable sleeper sofa and two high back chairs invite relaxing conversation or reading, or enjoy a large screen cable TV.

The Master bedroom features a luxurious king size bed, TV, and closet. Original heart pine flooring give it a rustic charm. An ensuite master bath provides the luxury experience of double vanities with beautiful oversized mirrors, ceramic tile flooring, and a beautful and spacious walk-in tile shower with marble accents.

The guest bedroom is luxurious in its own right, with a queen size vintage Baker four poster bed. Matching cabinets surround a rear window looking outward to the back porch sitting area, and are filled with many books and decor pieces, as well as a cable TV. The guest bedroom also has an ensuite bath with a large vanity, beautiful mirror, and tub/shower with decorative tile inlays.

An expansive slanted ceiling in the kitchen/dining area rises from 8' to nearly 14', giving it an elegant feel. Recessed lighting in the ceiling, as well as beautiful pendant lighting over the kitchen island and pineapple chandelier over the dining area. Full size stainless refrigerator, stainless farmhouse sink, stainless range and microwave, dishwasher and garbage disposal, as well as a kitchen island, compliment a fully functional kitchen. Marble countertops and beautiful cabinetry add to the decor. The owners have supplied spode blue Italian dishware for at home elegance. One unique feature is a separate coffee bar in the kitchen/dining area hallway.

The exterior has its own low country charm. The front porch features gas lanterns on both sides of the front door, with porch swings and rocking chairs that allow the guests a relaxing view of a Beaufort River sunset. The rear porch has comfortable outdoor seating with a privacy fence that makes for a great place to enjoy morning coffee.
